Medius tri keeping fit in 2015
The team here at Medius has been on a health-drive this year, with gym memberships being offered to all staff as well as fresh fruit deliveries and meditation sessions taking place across the organization.
As part of this, we have decided to enter some challenging sports events across the country throughout the year to incite some healthy competition amongst the team while raising money for a selection of charities as voted for by our staff.
Event 1: Great Manchester Run
There are just a few weeks to go until the team takes part in the first event, the iconic Great Manchester Run through the city center which is the UK’s biggest 10Km run with over 25,000 participants each year. The running team has been in intense training for the past few weeks aiming to create new personal bests and personal achievements for those who haven’t taken part before. Medius will be donating to local Cancer care charity Christies, mental health charity Mind, and the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) on completion of all of the events. Some participants are also raising money for charities close to their hearts, including Macmillan Cancer Care and 4Lewis, a charity supporting bereaved parents.
Event 2: Great Manchester Swim
Other events scheduled throughout the course of the year include the Great Manchester Swim, a one-mile outdoor swim in thriving business district Salford Quays, where water temperatures can drop to a chilling 10 degrees Celsius even in summer!
Event 3: Coast-to-coast bike ride
The third event will be a grueling 180-mile coast-to-coast bike ride from Walney Island over to Whitby, we have some keen amateur cyclists here at Medius but this will be a huge challenge even for them! All events will culminate in the final challenge; a team triathlon later in the year – more to be revealed on this soon! We’ll be posting on our social media pages with info and photos before and after each event, so make sure you follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with how we’re getting on – wish us luck!
